Blaine Gilliam

Hello! My name is Blaine Gilliam I have been playing banjo for about six years now. I am 25 years old and originally from a little town in central Virginia called Farmville. I have played in many different bluegrass bands ranging in genre from gospel to contemporary bluegrass. I have a Bachelors Degree from East Tennessee State University in Management with a minor in Bluegrass, Country and Old Time music. While at E.T.S.U. I played in several bands including a country band. Although I’m not ”classically” trained, I read tablature and have the ability play by ear (the way bluegrass was traditionally handed down). If you’re interested in learning the banjo, I encourage you to come down to Front Row Music in Abingdon and tell me about yourself and see if we can’t do some pickin’ and grinnin’.
